DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Safety Committee ,,, March 22, 1979 Committee: Chairman Swickard, Trustees Burgess and Wagner Attending: Chairman Swickard Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Police Chief Ault Absent: Trustees Burgess and Wagner DOG LICENSING: The Committee discussed with Dr. Wesley Metzler possible alternatives to the present dog licensing procedure and fees. One suggestion was to have Dr. Metzler issue the city licenses at the same time he issues rabies licenses. The Committee directed the staff to research this alternative further including the legality of such a licensing proce- dure. AMENDMENTS TO THE ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE: Amendments to the animal control ordinance suggested by the humane officer and Dr. Metzler were reviewed and discussed. The Committee recommends the Municipal Code be amended to include provisions re- garding the following: Fighting and fighting places prohibited Cruelty generally Poisoning animals prohibited, etc. Confinement of animals which have bitten persons Definitions of inoculation and vaccination Rabies control Reporting bites from animals susceptible to rabies Disposition of impounded animals COLORADO POLICE CHIEFS TRAINING SEMINAR: The Committee authorized Chief Ault to attend the Colorado Police Chiefs training seminar in Colorado Springs April 25th through 27th. MUNICIPAL BUILDING HANDICAPPED PARKING: The Committee recommends one parking space close to the front door of the Municipal Building be designated as handicapped parking. REPORTS: The communications grant for Larimer County was presented to the Larimer-Weld COG Criminal Justice Advisory Committee in February. The grant request was combined with an equipment request from Ft. Collins, the amount of funding requested reduced, and then forwarded to'the State Division of Criminal Justice.
