RED ZINGER BICYCLE CLASSIC:
Chamber Manager Ron Carney presented the proposed contract involving
the Chamber of Commerce, Stanley Hotel, and Red Zinger Bicycle Classic
regarding the bicycle race scheduled for July 27, 1979 in Estes Park.
The races are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude early
afternoon. The proposed route will begin at the Library and proceed
west on Elkhorn Avenue (utilizing one parking lane and one traffic
lane) to Big Horn Drive, then north on Big Horn Drive to Wonderview
Avenue (Highway 34 bypass) and east along Wonderview Avenue to the
intersection of Highways 34 and 36, and then west on Elkhorn Avenue
to the Library. Mr. Carney requested town assistance in this event
and will report back to the Committee when details are more finalized.
SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND COUNTY OFFICES PARKING:
Jim Black and Craig Meusel appeared requesting two spaces be reserved
in front of the Park Lane Building for Sheriff vehicles. The Committee
recommends, and Mr. Black and Mr. Meusel agreed, to designating two
Sheriff Office parking spaces on the south side of Park Lane at the
southeast corner of its intersection with Virginia Drive. The Sheriff's
Office agreed to provide the necessary signing and painting for the
two spaces.
County facilities planner Wayne Lawlor submitted a request for five
parking spaces in front of the Park Lane Building to be designated
as one hour parking in order to provide convenient parking for clients
of the County offices. The Committee recommends denial of this request.
PEAK TO PEAK MARATHON:
Dr. Bruce Beckord requested use of Bond Park and two blocks of
MacGregor Avenue for the finish line of the Peak to Peak Marathon
to be held on Sunday, June loth. The Committee recommends approval
and that Chief Ault assist Dr. Beckord in closing a portion of
MacGregor Avenue.
MOBILE RADIO:
Chief Ault received the following prices on 110 watt mobile radios
with four channel capacity:
Motorola . $ 964.00
General Electric . $ 800.00
The Committee recommends accepting General Electric's bid of $800.00
VEHICLE BIDS:
The following bids were received for 1979 police vehicles with police
package and all necessary shop manuals:
Estes Park Ford - Ford LTD $ 6,475.56
Estes Park Garage - Plymouth Volare $ 6,051.93
Estes Park Garage - Chrysler Newport $ 6,681.74
The Committee recommends accepting Estes Park Garage's bid of $6,051.93
for the 1979 Plymouth Volare.

REPORTS:
A request for a Mutual Aid Communication grant will be presented to
the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee this date by Larimer County.
If approved, the grant will provide funding for the County and Munici-
palities to update their police equipment. A letter from the Town
of Estes Park was fowarded to the County stating the Town's interest
in the Mutual Aid Communication program.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
