RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS
Public Safety Committee
✓November 21, 1980
Committee: Chairman Graves, Trustees Burgess and Wagner
Attending: Chairman Graves, Trustee Burgess
Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Police Chief Ault
Absent: Trustee Wagner
INTERGOVERNMENTAL POLICE PROTECTION PROPOSAL:
Chief Ault was approached by a County Commissioner regarding the Estes
Park Police Department taking over law enforcement in the Estes Park
area outside town limits. The Committee briefly discussed the proposal
and felt that a written request and more information should be submitted
by the County Commissioners before the proposal is studied further by
the Town.
TRUCK TRAFFIC ON PEAK VIEW SUBDIVISION STREETS:
A letter dated August 30, 1980 was received from several residents of
Peak View Subdivision requesting that heavy truck traffic be limited
on Twin Drive and Longs Drive. Apparently several trucks are using
these streets as access between Highway 7 and Marys Lake Road. The
Committee recommends that the Public Works Director review the situation
and make a recommendation.
POLICE PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE:
Two new proposals for police professional liability insurance were re-
ceived and sent to Insurance Consultant Wayne Jurgens for his analysis.
In his letter of October 23, 1980, he stated that the Town's present
insurance carrier, Compass, provides similar coverage at a smaller cost.
The Committee recommends remaining with the Town's present insurance
company for police professional liability insurance.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
