FORWARD ESTES PARK FOUNDATION - VISITOR PUBLIC RELATIONS
Greg Rosener, of the Forward Estes Park Foundation, expressed concern
about the way police officers were treating visitors on the street
during the summer months. Greg Rosener and Odd Lyngholm discussed
with the Committee the public relations problems created when patrolmen
reprimanded visitors who were jay walking or walking against the light.
The Committee acknowledged that they are aware of the problem but
also stated that the police officers are there by public request and
are only reprimanding those persons who are violating the law. Letters
regarding this public relations concern were received from Greg Rosener
and Neil Rosener both dated May 12, 1982. John Webermeier suggested
that better signage be placed at the intersections and Chief Ault
will follow-up on this suggestion.
TAXI STAND FOR DIAL -A -RIDE
Odd Lyngholm appeared before the Committee to request a taxi stand
location for a new taxi/shuttle business (to be known as "Dial -A -
Ride", if granted permission by the PUC). The taxi service will serve
an area within a 15 mile radius of the intersections of Highways 34
and 36. Mr.Lyngholm requested the taxi stand be located on Elkhorn
Avenue in front of Indian Village or on Moraine Avenue, also in front
of Indian Village as a second choice. Chief Ault recommended that
the taxi stand be located on Moraine Avenue to help traffic flow.
The Committee agreed with Chief Ault and recommends that Moraine
Avenue be used for the location of the Dial -A -Ride taxi stand.
PARKING FINE PROCEDURE
Melvin Galloway, the Town's parking attendant, discussed with the
Committee the summer parking situation and the present parking fees.
The Committee authorized five courtesy boxes at $74.50 to be placed
in the various parking lots. The Committee also decided to keep the
overtime parking violation fine (if not paid within 72 hours) at
$4.00.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
