HORSE SHOW & RODEO COMMITTEE BANNER REQUEST:
A request was received from the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee to erect
a banner across Elkhorn Avenue for the Rooftop Rodeo, High School Rodeo
and Westernaires show. The Horse Show and Rodeo Committee would be
responsible for all costs of the installation and maintenance. The
banners would meet State Highway Department standards and comply with
the Town's sign code. The Committee recommends the existing poles
at the east end of the Athletic Field parking lot be used instead and,
if necessary, the poles be raised to increase the visibility.
GUN CLUB FACILITIES REQUEST:
Estes Park Gun Club representative Bill Van Horn explained to the Com-
mittee that the agencies that use the gun club facilities are being
asked to contribute $200 towards the heating and maintenance of the
building. The National Park Service has agreed to contribute and the
Sheriff's Office will be asked to contribute also. The Committee
recommends the Town contribute $200 in 1982 and that this item be
budgeted in future years.
NEW PATROL CARS:
The Plymouth Grand Fury received the state bid for patrol cars at a
cost of $8,074.24. Chief Ault explained that this bid price does not
include some options necessary for the Police Department. The Committee
recommends proceeding with obtaining two new patrol cars as offered
by the state bid and allowing the options Chief Ault deems necessary
providing the total cost remain within the budget.
XEROX COPIER:
Chief Ault requested that a xerox copying machine be purchased for
just under the $3,000 budgeted which includesinstallation and initial
supplies. The Committee recommends approval.
1982 SAFETY FAIR:
The Estes Park Police Department and Mountain Bell are co -sponsoring
a safety fair again this year on May 22nd and requested that they be
permitted to hold the event at the north end and picnic area of the
Athletic Field parking lot. The Committee recommends approval.
CENTRAL DISPATCH ALARM SYSTEM:
Mountain Shield Security has requested permission to use a new alarm
system which involves a central dispatch system. All alarm signals
are relayed to New York where a dispatcher contacts the local Police
Department in the area of the alarm. The system is currently operating
in Longmont. The Committee directed Chief Ault to contact the City
of Longmont regarding its experience with this new alarm system.
REPORTS:
Chief Ault reported on his activities with the Civil Defense committee,
Human Resources and Community Corrections. Human Development has awarded
another grant to the Estes Park Area Chamber of Commerce and the Community
Corrections program is being established in several other communities.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
