Committee: Chairman Graves, Trustees Wagner and Wood
Attending: Chairman Graves, Trustee Wagner
Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Police Chief
Ault, Clerk Jensen
Absent: Trustee Wood
LIABILITY INSURANCE - FIRE - JACK RUMLEY:
Fire Chief Jack Rumley stated that the Colorado Fire Fighters'
Association has asked local fire departments to check to see
whether their fire fighters are covered by liability insurance.
Administrator Hill stated that he had talked to Attorney Greg
White regarding this matter and as far as primary coverage, the
fire fighters own insurance should cover their vehicles with
secondary coverage provided by the Town's liability insurance. As
far as acts of firemen, they are covered by the Town's liability
policy. Attorney White will be working on our insurance coverage
to make certain this is adequate. The Town staff will get written
information to the Fire Department when it is received.
FROST GIANT RACE - REQUEST TO USE TOWN STREETS:
In a letter dated December 12, 1983, Mr. Rick Zuba, representing
the Estes Alpine Runners, requested permission to use MacGregor
Avenue, Park Lane, Virginia Drive, Big Horn Avenue and Devils
Gulch Road on January 28, 1984 for a five and ten kilometer foot
race. Police Chief Ault stated that this is the third year for
this race and the Colorado Department of Highways has already
granted permission for state highway use. Two Estes Park Police
Officers would work the race if permission is granted. The
Committee recommends approval of the request.
POLICE DEPARTMENT EVALUATIONS - NEW:
Police Chief Ault stated that about a year ago he came to the
Committee regarding an evaluation system the police department
wanted to try for one year. The purpose of the evaluation system
was to provide more specific information on which to evaluate
officers. Chief Ault went through the evaluation system with
the Committee.. After a lengthy discussion, the Committee
recommends the evaluation system be continued. The Committee also
requested that the reports they receive be continued with the
addition of the Officers' Monthly Activity Sheet and the deletion
of the Communications Activity Information.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
