NUISANCE ANIMALS:
Chief Ault reported that the Police Department has always had
problems with nuisance animals such as skunks, gophers, and cats;
however, there has never been an acceptable solution to the problem.
Mr. Frank Rinella of the Division of Wildlife gave Chief Ault the
name of a state licensed trapper who has opened a business in Estes
Park. Chief Ault reported that this is a private business called
"Nuisance Animal Control". The cost is $20.00 for setting a trap,
or traps, and an additional $5.00 for every animal removed. Chief
Ault stated that the Police Department has been handling nuisance
animals as a public service but feels that someone licensed and
in the private sector should be handling these problems. The
Committee recommends that the Police Department turn the nuisance
animal problems over to the private sector.
DIVISION OF DISASTER EMERGENCY SERVICES:
Chief Ault requested permission to attend a Civil Liability Workshop
in Colorado Springs September 12-16, 1983. The government will
pay for housing and provide a per diem, but the Town would cover
traveling and any other expenses incurred. The Committee recommends
approval of the request.
1984 BUDGET REVIEWED:
The Committee reviewed the Police and Fire Department budgets for
1984. The Committee will take the budget requests under advisement.
REPORTS:
Chief Ault reported that the Larimer County Commissioners have
asked to join the Estes Park Police Department on the audio override
system on the Cable TV system. Chief Ault asked that the County
participation be limited.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
