REQUEST FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT TO CLOSE MacGREGOR AVENUE:
Fire Chief Jack Rumley was present and requested permission to
close MacGregor Avenue near Bond Park on September 29, 1984 from
4:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. The Fire Department will be dedicating
their new fire truck and celebrating with a barbeque which will
be open to the public. The Committee recommends the Fire Depart-
ment be authorized to close MacGregor Avenue and hold a barbeque
supper in Bond Park.
SUMMER OFFICERS - 1985:
Chief Ault and the Committee stated the eight summer officers
performed in an excellent manner this summer. Pending future
traffic improvements, the Committee recommends a budget request
for 8 - 11 summer officers for the 1985 Budget.
1985 BUDGET REVIEW:
The Committee reviewed and discussed the preliminary draft of the
budget for 1985.
REPORTS:
Chief Ault received in informal request from persons desiring to
hold a 5-kilometer foot race Sunday, September 9, 1984 in con-
junction with the Scottish Highland Festival. The race would
begin at Stanley Park to Brodie Avenue behind the high school, up
to Highway 7 and down the same course, lasting approximately 50
minutes. The Committee recommends Chief Ault contact the appli-
cants suggesting they change the race course for possible im-
provement and that Chief Ault be authorized to negotiate a
satisfactory solution regarding vehicular traffic.
The Fire Department has requested information regarding
liability covering firefighters. The Committee recommends
Finance Director Vavra advise Fire Chief Rumley of Town
liability.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
