TRAFFIC CONTROL - WEST ELKHORN CONSTRUCTION:
Police Chief Ault reported to the Committee he has had a
meeting with Bob Nicholson and John Lapping with NCE, Inc. and
the State Highway Department regarding the "bottleneck"
situation which has occurred due to the Streetscape Project.
Chief Ault has suggested we open West Elkhorn Avenue west bound
to one-way traffic during this temporary situation. The
Committee recommends approval of this suggestion.
CARRIAGES and TRAINS - REQUESTS TO USE PUBLIC STREETS:
Two inquires have been received from commercial recreational
transportation representatives for use of public streets.
Applicants have been informed permission must first be given by
the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and secondly by the
State Highway Department. Concern was expressed that the number
one problem with this type of operation is the traffic hazard.
Pending further correspondence from the representatives, no
action was taken at this time.
FINE ARTS GUILD FESTIVAL - REQUEST TO CLOSE PUBLIC STREETS:
The Public Works Committee has granted use of Bond Park for the
Fine Arts Guild Festival being held September 15 - 16, 1984.
After discussion the Committee recommends taking -off the public
parking on MacGregor Avenue (west side) between Park Lane and
Elkhorn Avenue, the south side of Bond Park on Elkhorn Avenue
and on MacGregor Avenue to Virginia Drive on the north side of
Elkhorn Avenue.
SECURITY POLICE
Police Chief Ault reported to the Committee on the increase of
private security police. After discussion Chief Ault suggested
basic minimum guidelines be instituted to control the private
sector at which time it becomes necessary. No further action
was taken.
REPORTS:
Police Chief Ault reported on the progress to date on the
Policemen's Pension.
The bid for new uniforms has been awarded; officers will be
wearing grey shirts with navy blue slacks.
The Humane Officer Pickup and Patrol Car previously bid should
be arriving within two weeks.
Chief Ault has attended a meeting regarding the Disaster Plan
which is required by State Law. The goal is to have a "mock
