TOWN OF ESTES PARK
May 2, 2000
Members: Jeff Barker Public Works Committee Rep. 2-year term
Dan Speedlin Parks Department Rep. 2-year term
Tim Rische Parks Department Rep. 4-year term
Russ Franklin Parks Department Rep. 4-year term
Wendell Amos EVIA Rep. 4-year term
Alice Gray EVIA Rep. 4-year term
Dick Lang EVIA Rep. 2-year term
Present: Dan Speedlin, Russ Franklin, Jeff Barker, Wendell Amos and Alice
Gray were in attendance.
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.
1. Arbor Day — May 19, Friday 10 a.m. We will plant 2 trees at the Youth Center
and then 3 trees at the Senior Center and then one tree at the elementary school.
One tree will be in honor of Jean Gimar.
2. New Business - Tree loss from wildlife damage, annual inventory. Beavers are a
problem. 85% of tree damage is done by wildlife. Cost to replace a tree is $2,000
which covers new tree, digging and preparing hole, planting, supporting it, etc.
Beavers are not endangered!
3. Old Business -
a. We reviewed the Tree Board Memorial Guidelines.
b. Talked about Tree Information Rack
c. At the April Tree Board Meeting, Mayor Dekker and Jeff Barker presented
Tree Board Members with delicious chocolate bars. They thanked us for our
work.
Next meeting will be July 11, 2000?
