HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Tree Board 2010-01-08Q E S T E __ ,.e P A R K COLORADO TREE BOARD MINUTES January 8, 2010 Board Members Present: Absent: Rex Poggenpohl Scott Roederer Sandy Burns Chuck Levine Bob Seifert Mike Richardson QUORUM: yes Other Present: Russ Franklin, Bruce Kane — Public Works Staff Barb Boyer Buck — Support Staff Arbor Day Sandy Burns announced that Sunrise Rotary is interested in donating a bench for the next Arbor Day celebration; members present will try and find a craftsman to create bench within the $700-$800 budget given. On the subject for prizes for the kids who win the "cookie" contest, it was suggested that Barb get quotes on T- shirts. Legacy Tree Program Rex presented a draft mission statement that had been requested by Scott Zurn. Mike Richardson said that the Recreation District also has a program and he will try and get Rick O'DeII or Stan Gengler from the Rec District to attend next meeting to discuss how these programs can be coordinated. Barb mentioned the Association for Retired Federal Employees is also interested in continuing their tree plantings in Bond Park. Jim Austin from the Estes Valley Forest Issue Forum was a special guest to explain the forum's purpose — to provide interagency information on forest issues through networking. It was noted this forum would be a great venue to get Tree Board messages out to the public. Barb suggested the forum have a booth at the Tree Symposium. Tree Symposium Barb reported on activities to date, including the mailing of the "Save the Date" postcard. Scott R. reported via email that proposals from speakers should be submitted by the end of January. Tree Board Members Barb reported that Bob Seifert, Chuck Levine, and Scott Roederer's terms would be expiring in April and that an advertisement for Tree Board Members will be running for three weeks.
