Beetle Symposium & Tree Talks In lieu of the full -day Tree Symposium, the board decided to hold a half- day beetle seminar in the Town Board room on May 25, 2011 which will start a series of lectures which will be held throughout the summer for next year. Barb will make the reservation for the board room. Possible topics for the half -day seminar include: • Colorado State Forest Service overview of the beetle: lifecycle & status • Prevention & mitigation • Other threats/"after the beetle" It was suggested that the program be recorded and televised on Channel 12. Estes Ecological Walk Since the deadline for the fall cycle of the GOCO grant application was not achieved, the board members will take the opportunity to investigate this project further and pursue possible partnerships or support — especially from the Bureau of Reclamation and the Estes Valley Recreation and Parks District. Barb will investigate the possibility of the board touring local nature walks and arboretums and report back on the logistics of a "field trip" at the next meeting. She will also report on deadlines for the GOCO spring cycle. Craig Adams follow-up It was decided to advertise for a replacement for Craig Adams for two weeks. New applicants will be asked to provide a letter of intent along with their application. New Officers Scott Roederer was re-elected as President; Sandy Burns was named Vice -President; and, Barbara Williams will be the financial liaison to the Town. Legacy Tree Program Rex Poggenpohl reported on the Legacy program; he is working on the scope and definition of the program and will have a more comprehensive report at the December meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 10:35 a.m.
