Budget
Dave Mahany reported that there is about $12,600 left in Tree City Funds for 2010 and
asked for direction from the Tree Board on how to spend it. After discussion, it was
decided to spend half of it on new trees for the fairgrounds at Stanley Park and at Scott
Ponds; and, the other half on fencing at the bird sanctuary on the Lake Trail. Since this
area is controlled by the Parks & Rec District, Mike Richardson will approach Stan
Gengler to make sure these funds can be used for this purpose. December 3 is the
deadline to decide about purchasing the fence.
Arbor Day
Sandy Burns reported that Sunrise Rotary will be donating another bench for Arbor Day
in 2011 and asked for ideas on how Arbor Day activities be expanded for next year.
After discussion, it was decided to hold an Arbor Day commemorative planting at the
Senior Center and ask for nominations from the public (in addition to the celebration at
the elementary school).
Beetle Symposium & Evening Talks
Sandy Burns reported that Diana Selby from the Colorado State Forest service is very
eager to help plan next year's events. It was confirmed that the half -day meeting at Town
Hall will have several programs, including one from Town of Estes Park staff.
Wildlife Walk application
Barb Boyer Buck reported that the details for the next GOCO grant cycle will not be
published until December 9.
Beetle Busters update (HOA letter)
Barb reported that the Beetle Busters will be focusing their efforts on educating larger
community groups, such as HOAs,
Tree City application
Barb said that she has enough material to complete the Tree City application, but would
like Russ' help with it.
Other Business
The board asked Barb to find out how many people have visited the Tree Board site and
report on the next meeting.
The December meeting was moved to the 10`h since the November meeting was late.
