General Items:
It was decided that future meetings would be scheduled exclusively for the first Friday of every
month. If it was determined quorum would not be present, the meeting would be cancelled until
the following month.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
Quorum was not present, so meeting minutes could not be approved. It was decided Jen Imber
would email past minutes to board members for approval.
Election of Officers
Election of Officers was postponed until the October 7th meeting since quorum was not present.
Goals for 2011/2012
Discussion of potential future projects included landscape planning for the Visitor's Center
arboretum on both sides of the river and around the fence, Scotts Ponds area improvements,
planting more trees at the Fairgrounds, improvement of the wetlands by Olympus Dam, and
development of the community garden at Elm & Moraine. The idea of purchasing pine seedlings
and making them available free of charge to the public was considered.
Budget
The budget will be set during the October 7th meeting, when quorum is present. Scott Roederer
inquired about rolling over half of 2011's budget into next year and combining it with half of
2012's budget in order to have a large enough fund available to hire a landscape architect for the
arboretum. Jen Imber and Russ Franklin will check to see if budget money may be spent for this
purpose.
Tree Talk
It was confirmed that the next Tree Talk, presented by Greg Zausen on Forest Stewardship and
Fall Beetle Mitigation on September 26th, will be filmed and available for public viewing on the
Town's website. Poor attendance at the Tree Talks and possible causes for this flaw were
discussed. Jen Imber will find out how much traffic the Tree Board webpage is receiving.
Halloween
Scott Zurn suggested the Tree Board consider having a presence at the downtown Halloween
Trick -or -Treat event, with the possibility of handing out Tree City buttons/brochures/candy.
