RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS
Public Works Committee
"December 16, 1976
Committee: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Petrocine and Sutter
Attending: Trustee Sutter
Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Director of Public Works
Van Horn
Absent: Chairman Dannels and Trustee Petrocine
STANLEY PARK TRACTOR:
The Horse Show and Rodeo Committee has obtained on a trial basis a
1975 John Deere diesel tractor with 1000 hours of usage on it. The
cost of the tractor is $8,200 or $7,138 with the trade-in. $10,000
has been budgeted in 1977 for a tractor for Stanley Park. Director
of Public Works Van Horn stated that a diesel tractor would require
outside maintenance whereas a gasoline tractor could be maintained
in-house. Also, a new gasoline tractor (same model as the diesel)
could be obtained for $10,700 through an equipment company or for
considerably less through the Division of Local Government if John
Deere received the state bid. Purchasing a new tractor through the
Division of Local Government, however, would not include a trade-in
and would take several months but the Committee recommends researching
this possibility further since timing is not urgent.
CURB CUTS - STATHAM - LOT 8, DEVILLE SUBDIVISION:
The Committee reconsidered Dick Statham's request for two 12' curb
cuts onto Woodstock Drive from lot 8, DeVille Subdivision which was
tabled at the last Committee meeting. Further information was pro-
vided showing the east driveway 65' from the east property line and
the west curb cut 10' from the west property line. There will be
116' distance between the two curb cuts and approximately 70' between
the west curb cut and the closest curb cut of the lot adjacent to it
on the west. The Committee recommends both curb cuts be approved.
PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING RETAINING WALL/BOUNDARY DISPUTE:
Frank Williams has threatened to tear down the retaining wall for the
Public Works Building if it is built closer than 4' to his property
line. Any legal action against Mr. Williams would cost the Town $2,000
to $3,000 which is more than the four foot strip of land is worth. The
Committee recommends constructing the wall four feet from the property
line.
POLICE DISPATCH ROOM - CARPETING:
The Police Department has requested carpeting for the Police Dispatch
room because the tile flooring allows too much noise which interferes
with recordings. Because of the tremendous amount of traffic in the
room, the Committee recommends obtaining an indoor/outdoor carpet and
that it be taped down for easy replacement.
STREET NUMBER SIGNS:
The Committee recommends not requiring at this time that street numbers
be displayed on each building.

ENGINEERING -MANAGEMENT SCHOOL:
The Committee recommends the Director of Public Works be allowed to
attend an engineering and management school sponsored by the University
of Denver on January 26, 27, and 28, 1977.
ELEVATOR MAINTENANCE:
Correspondence has been received from Montgomery Elevator Company and
Floyd Reister of DMJM-Phillips•Reister, Inc. regarding elevator main-
tenance. Floyd Reister stated that most metropolitan areas have an
ordinance requiring all elevators installed to include a maintenance
agreement. He also stated that even though it is not stipulated in
the agreement, the Town's liability is much better with a maintenance
agreement, and that the life of the elevator system, especially the
electrical parts, is greatly enhanced. Montgomery Elevator Company .
recommended as a minimum a bi-monthly preventative maintenance service
agreement at a cost of $367/year. The Committee recommends a bi-monthly
maintenance agreement at the above stated cost.
