RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS
Public Works Committee
✓September 23, 1976
Committee: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Petrocine and Sutter
Attending: Chairman Dannels, Trustee Sutter
Also Attending: Director of Public Works Van Horn
Absent: Trustee Petrocine
RELOCATION OF ANTENNASAND TRANSMITTERS TO MUNICIPAL BUILDING:
As directed by the Public Works Committee at its last meeting, Cooper
Communications analyzed the possible relocation of the Town's antennas
and transmitters and recommended that they not be relocated to the
Municipal Building for those departments requiring a wide range. Sgt.
Kappely and Max Gebauer explained to the Committee that the purpose of
relocating their communication system is to reduce the amount of out-
side interference resulting from the present wide range. The Committee
recommends that three 23' antennas be mounted on the Municipal Building.
FLOOD INSURANCE FOR TOWN OWNED BUILDINGS:
The Committee discussed obtaining flood insurance for town owned
buildings at a rate of $4.00 per thousand on buildings and $7.50 per
thousand on contents. The Committee recommends not obtaining flood
insurance at this time because the amount of risk involved does not
justify the expense.
GREENBELT OFFER:
The Committee considered for greenbelt a tract of land along Fish
Creek offered by Dale Ver Straeten of Professional Real Estates Con-
sultants. The price quoted was $16,500 for the slightly over an acre
tract. The Committee recommends not purchasing this tract at this
time in order to pursue higher priority greenbelt areas.
CURB CUT/DRIVEWAY PERMIT - CITTA - HOLIDAY LANE:
Robert Citta submitted a request for a 24' wide curb cut onto Holiday
Lane from the northwest portion of Lot 9, South Saint Vrain Addition
(approximately 70' east of Highway 7). The Committee recommends the
curb cut be granted.

The following bids were received for a new dump truck:
Art Riffel Dodge $12,294.17
Estes Park Ford 13,499.01

The Committee recommends accepting the lowest acceptable bid.

due to drippings from patrol cars. Director Van Horn advised that the

existing asphalt could be removed and replaced with concrete for about
$350. The Committee recommends approval.
SUBDIVISION VIOLATION PROCEDURES:
Town Attorney Phipps advised that state law allows the sale of an
illegally divided parcel to be set aside until properly subdivided.
The Committee recommends following this procedure for Mr. Whittaker's
illegal subdivision of land.
REST ROOM MAINTENANCE - EMPLOYEE:
The East Riverside rest rooms will be closed several weeks this fall
forremodeling and, therefore, there will be only one public rest room
facility open until the Visitor Center rest rooms are completed. The
Committee recommends that the half-time rest room cleaning employee
be retained for rest room and Municipal Building cleaning until the
end of October at which time the cleaning situation will be reevaluated.
HIGH SCHOOL BONFIRE:
The High School Homecoming Committee requested to hold a bonfire on
school grounds during Homecoming weekend. Police Department and Fire
Department approvals have already been obtained. The Committee also
recommends approval.
REPORTS:
BRIDGES - The Ivy Street and Wiest Street bridges are complete
except for minor cleanup.
FLOOD & DRAINAGE DAMAGE - In-house expense to date in time and
equipment for repair of flood and drainage damage is $9,000 -
$10,000. This does not include material costs or contracts such
as paving.
TALLANT PARK - Due to lack of available time and manpower, the
Town will contract out site preparation and structures construc-
tion (foot bridge, shelters). for Tallant Park. The area south
of the river will be completed first because of the increased
traffic on Highway 36 due to the closing of Highway 34. Paving
of the east parking lot and driveway of the Visitor Center will
begin shortly.
STREET CUT PERMIT - A five year guarantee provision has been
included in all street cut permits to be issued in the future.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
