The Committee informed her that according to the Municipal Code, it is the responsibility of the property owner to install curb, gutter, and sidewalk. E.P.S.D. - GASOLINE PUMP REQUEST.: The Estes Park Sanitation District informally requested use of the (old) Public Works Garage gasoline pumps. These pumps will be removed as part of the Tallant Park project and, therefore, will not be available. The Sanitation District will have use of the Water Department pumps when it takes over the building and the Committee recommended the staff make an arrangement for the interim period. AUTOMATIC VOTING DEVICE: The Committee discussed the possibility of installing an automatic: voting device for the Board of Trustees meetings. Such a device could be installed "in house" keeping the total cost under $1,000. The Committee recommends proceeding with this project. BOARD ROOM TABLE: The Committee also discussed and recommends widening the Board Room table by adding a section to the middle. RELOCATION OF ANTENNA AND TRANSMITTERS TO MUNICIPAL BUILDING: The Public Safety Committee recommended to the Public Works Committee that it favorably consider the State Patrol's request to relocate antennas and transmitters to the Municipal Building. The Committee felt sufficient information was lacking to make a recommendation at this time and requested that moreinformation be submitted as to why the move is necessary, the type of installation necessary, and where the equipment is proposed to be situated. LAND TRADE - ESTES PARK SANITATION DISTRICT: Town Administrator Hill reported that the proposals made by the Public Works Committee for the Stanley Meadows land trade with the Estes Park Sanitation District will be discussed at the next Sanitation District meeting. The proposals were (1) that decorative fencing be installed at the expense of the Sanitation District; (2) that the land area along Highway 34 be included as land traded to the Town; and (3) that the statement disallowing any permanent improvements be eliminated. COLUMBINE AVE. AND PONDEROSA DR. CORNER GUARD RAIL: The upper part of Columbine Avenue where it connects with Ponderosa Drive has a hazardous corner which has resulted in several accidents. BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee June 17, 1976 Page Two (2) Mr. Caranci, owner of lot 18, block 9, Country Club Manor, has expressed great concern over the safety of this corner. The Committee discussed installing a guard rail at this location at an estimated cost of $20 per foot and recommends proceeding with acquisition of approximately 100 feet of guard rail. REPORTS: The Moraine Avenue Public Rest Room facility was opened to the public on June llth. Only the landscaping remains to be completed. The sprinkler system has been installed and the top soil replaced in the West Riverside Park. The parking area has been paved, the street lights installed, leaving only the sodding which should be completed in about a week. The first section of Highway 36 walkway will be completed next week. The East Riverside sidewalk has been completed from the East Riverside Drive bridge to the Rockwell bridge, and the portion between Rockwell Street bridge and Ivy Street bridge will be finished upon completion of the Ivy Street bridge. It was reported the Wiest Drive bridge abutments are complete and that the west side of the Ivy Street bridge abutment has been poured. In order to set the deck on the Wiest Drive bridge as soon as possible, additional move -in -crane time (estimated to be $500) would have to be paid. The earliest date the Wiest Drive bridge deck could be set is June 28th. Proceeding with setting the Wiest Drive bridge deck now would enable the bridge to be opened ten days sooner than if both bridges were set at the same time. The Committee recommends the Wiest Drive bridge deck be set at the earliest possible date at an additional cost of $500. At the present rate of construction, the Ivy Street bridge is estimated to be opened to traffic the third week of July. Director of Public Works Van Horn reported that official approval of the driveway permit applications for the Tourist Information Center has still not been given at this date. The hiring of High School students until July 1st which was approved at the May 25th Board of Trustees meeting has been dropped due to lack of student interest. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. ( d cv l.i>Ir Joan Van Horn, Secretary JUN 21 11/7 s L VJA. J i,,,i.UUEE3 j
