All three letters complained about the potential damage of the loose gravel being blown or washed out. Lee Hartland appeared before the Committee offering to mark the trail in front of his cottages with edge stripping and eliminate the gravel at his own expense. The Com- mittee had no objections to his installing the edge stripping similar to Bond Park's but would not allow the gravel to be removed and assured Mr. Hartland that an attempt would be made by the Street Department to hasten the compaction of the gravel in this area. DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee February 17, 1977 Page Two (2) The Committee recommends accepting the bid submitted by Tom's Concrete. Although a suspension footbridge with railroad tie framing was orig- inally planned for Tallant Park, it was felt that a more rigid struc- ture would achieve better support of the sewerline. A twin T pre- stressed concrete structure with wood deck and a laminated wood struc- ture were researched. A laminated wood footbridge has erecting advan- tages but is double in cost compared to a concrete bridge. Director of Public Works Van Horn obtained two price estimates on the concrete bridge of approximately $7,000 erected. The Committee directed the Public Works Director to pursue the concrete bridge alternative further. INFORMATION CENTER - LOBBY FLOOR: The oak floor in the lobby of the Information Center has deteriorated in spite of the gymnasium -type finish. Floyd Reister of DMJM-Phillips• Reister surveyed the situation and recommended an epoxy quartz overlay material. This type of flooring has proven to be extremely durable in ski area lobbies and cafeterias where the foot traffic is heavy and rough. Although the aesthetics of the oak flooring would be sacrificed, this flooring will require no maintenance and is available in several colors. The Committee recommends the omnituff epoxy quartz flooring at an installation cost of $1,080. OFF-STREET PARKING: The Committee reviewed and discussed a May 1974 off-street parking analysis and possible future parking locations and directed the staff to obtain further information regarding capacity, advantages and dis- advantages of the various locations. GRAVEL SUPPLY: Director of Public Works Van Horn reported that the Town's gravel supply needs to be replenished and flood recovery funds to pay for the replacement of the material used in the flood will not be available for sometime. A reasonably priced supply could be obtained by contracting with Sterling Paving Company presently to excavate the proposed water shop site. The Committee recommends expending $10,000 of the street improvements fund for obtaining the gravel supply. C.E.T.A. - MUNICIPAL SERVICES WORKER I: C.E.T.A. funds are available to pay one half the salary of a Municipal Services Worker I for seven months which includes the summer months. The Committee recommends obtaining a Municipal Services Worker I through the C.E.T.A. program. EAST RIVERSIDE REST ROOMS - BROKEN WATERLINE: The Committee recommends replacing the broken waterline serving the East Riverside rest rooms with a larger sized line when the ground has thawed. A larger waterline would enable the little Park's irrigation system to be tied in at a later date. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. ti FEB 22 1977 s Joai Vau Horn, Secre ti ry TO' 7 i 3 OF ESTES ES PPS'.?;( BOARD OF T;: J EES
