STANLEY PARK BUILDINGS:
Pete Kempner representing the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee requested
to move three buildings into Stanley Park. One building, approximately
10' x 12' in size, would be a trophy and equipment storage room to be
located underneath the southwest corner of the grandstand. Due to the
structural supports of the grandstand, the proposed location was ques-
tioned and the Committee directed Director of Public Works Van Horn to
review the proposed location.
TALLANT PARK:
The Committee reviewed the proposed and actual expenditures for the
Tallant Park development project. $103,395 of the $120,000 budgeted
has been expended to date. This figure includes the $6,000 accel/decel
lane which will be covered instead under the street improvements fund.
The remaining amount to be spent on Tallant Park is approximately $22,600.
The Committee directed Public Works Director Van Horn to submit an esti-
mate of the amount of funding required to complete Tallant Park and also
a recommended list of priorities for the remaining projects.
CETA - SUMMER EMPLOYMENT:
The Committee recommends participating again this summer in the fed-
erally funded C.E.T.A. program which would allow the Town to hire up
to four young people qualifying for the program.
PARKING LOT #2 - LANDSCAPING:
The grass strips around the parking lot across from Bond Park require
sodding every spring due to the heavy use. Director Van Horn suggested
as an alternative a crisscross turf block which is designed to allow
grass growth in heavily used areas. The Committee recommends testing
the turf blocks on a strip adjacent to the ticket booth and sodding the
remaining strips.
REPORTS:
OFF-STREET PARKING - The Committee discussed further possible
future off-street parking acquisitions.
MORAINE AVENUE SIDEWALK - Since no bids were received for the
curb, gutter and sidewalk construction at the intersection of
Moraine Avenue and Crags Drive, the Federal Disaster Administra-
tion authorized the Town to negotiate a contract on the project.
The Committee authorized Director Bill Van Horn to negotiate a
contract with Tom's Concrete that is within the budgeted amount.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
