HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Works Committee 1977-12-16BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee âś“December 16, 1977 Committee: Attending: Also Attending: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Petrocine and Sutter Chairman Dannels; Trustee Sutter Mayor Tregent, Town Administrator Hill, Public Works Director Van Horn Absent: Trustee Petrocine HUTCHINS/KANE PROPERTY LINES: Lynn Grant, Attorney representing Mr. Hutchins, appeared before the Committee regarding the boundary lines of Mr. Hutchins' property between Elkhorn Avenue and the Big Thompson River just southwest of the Highway 34 and Highway 36 intersection. Ms. Grant explained that Mr. Hutchins is claiming an area which became north of the river as a result of a change in location of the original river channel. A Por- tion of this parcel was dedicated to the public in 1937 and is shown as a street on the Little Prospect Mountain Subdivision plat. The Committee expressed its concern of maintaining access to the Town's property across the river and informed Ms. Grant the Town Attorney and State Highway Department would be consulted regarding this matter. DUMP/SNOWPLOW TRUCK: The Committee authorized the Public Works Director to request bids to be received in January for a new combination dump and snowplow truck. This would allow delivery of the truck at the earliest possible date. SAFER OFF SYSTEM ROADS PROGRAM: The Committee recommends submitting an application for federal funding to improve the West Riverside Drive and Old Ranger Drive bridges. The Safer Off System Roads Program provides 74% federal funding to be matched with 26% local funding. TRAFFIC ISLANDS: Inadequate signing and traffic pattern problems of the MacGregor Avenue/ Park Lane and West Riverside Drive/Riverside Drive intersections were discussed. The Committee recommends constructing traffic islands at both intersections as a part of the Spring '78 paving program and placing traffic signs within the islands. REPORTS: PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR - Several applications for the Public Works Director position have been received and interviews have started. LIBRARY ADDITION - Construction of the Library Addition will be ready for bid at the end of January and is scheduled for completion on May 1st. The construction will be bid with the new entrance way as an alternative. The Architect will be retained until receipt of the bids and then on an "as need" basis until completion. WEST RIVERSIDE PARK - The Bureau of Outdoor Recreation grant appli- cation for West Riverside Park is scheduled for the A-95 Review r_, s,,,7.17..LW-CQG on January 4, 1978.
