October 27, 1978
Committee: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner
Attending: Chairman Dannels, Trustee Houston
Also Attending: Mayor Tregent, Trustee Burgess Trustee Swickard, Town
Administrator Hill, Public Works Director Widmer
Absent: Trustee Wagner
STANLEY VILLAGE PARKING:
The Committee, along with members of the Town Board, discussed Bill
Myers' proposal to sell or lease to the Town a maximum of 170 fully
developed and landscaped parking spaces in the Stanley Village tract
for $3,000 per space. The cost of this proposal was compared with
other parking alternatives which the Committee has been considering.
The Committee recommends not accepting Mr. Myers' proposal because of
the political ramifications, possibly establising a precedent, and
the costs involved in providing pedestrian access.
SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER:
Several sites at Stanley Park were discussed for locating the Senior
Citizens Center. After reviewing the availability of utilities in
Stanley Park, the Committee recommended that the Senior Citizens
Center be located immediately south of the Museum (.65 acres in size).
The Committee also recommended that the Town enter into a lease agree-
ment with Estes Park Senior Citizens Center, Inc. which will include
provisions regarding the appearance and maintenance of the building.
MANFORD AVENUE SPEED BUMPS:
Several speed bumps were placed on ManfordAvenue by the Park School
District in order to reduce traffic speed. A letter dated October 27,
1978 was received from the School Superintendent apologizing for in-
stalling the speed bumps on a public street without consulting the
Town, and requesting the Town's assistance in controlling the traffic
on this street. Because the Municipal Code and Model Traffic Code
do not authorize the placement of speed bumps on public streets, the
Committee recommends that they be removed. The Committee referred
the letter to the Public Safety Committee for its consideration of
traffic control and safety.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
