RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS
Public Works Committee
✓December 21, 1978
Committee: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner
Attending: Chairman Dannels, Trustee Wagner
Also Attending: Mayor Tregent, Town Administrator Hill, Public Works
Director Widmer
Absent: Trustee Houston
SNOW PLOWING:
Present snow plowing policies were reviewed and the Committee recommends
continuing to plow when snow starts to accumulate on the streets. The
Committee also felt that it would not be practical to plow driveway
entrances.
LARIMER COUNTY 5 YEAR ROAD AND BRIDGE PLAN:
In Larimer County's proposed five year road and bridge plan, only the
reconstruction of the gravel surface of Fish Creek Road from Little
Valley Road to Highway 7 and 1.5 miles of seal and chip surfacing on
Fish Creek Road were proposed for the Estes Park area. These two
projects account for approximately 2% of the 5-year total of six and
one half million dollars. The Committee recommends the following pro-
jects be submitted to the County to be included in its 5 year plan:
1. Resurface Riverside Drive (County Road 67E)
2. Resurface Mall Road and reconstruct the bridge
3. Resurface Marys Lake Road (County Road 67)
4. Resurface Fish Creek Road (County Road 63)
5. Resurface Prospect Mountain Road or Peak View Drive
(County Road 65)
6. Resurface Spur 66
VIRGINIA DRIVE RELOCATION:
The relocation of Virginia Drive was again discussed and the staff was
directed to obtain a legal opinion regarding any deed restrictions in
relocating the street through Bond Park.
DEER RIDGE JUNCTION SIGNING:
The Committee recommends the Mayor submit a letter to Rocky Mountain
National Park requesting that a sign be installed at the Deer Ridge
Junction clarifying both available routes to Estes Park.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM - DUNRAVEN STREET AREA:
A letter dated November 22, 1978 was received from Ralph Sahm requesting
the Town to investigate a drainage problem in the Dunraven Street area.
Public Works Director Widmer did investigate the problem and found it
to originate on private property but felt the public street would be
affected. The Committee directed the staff to inform Mr. Sahm that
because the drainage problem originates on private property, it is a
civil matter but that the Town will cooperate in finding a solution
and will contact the State Highway Department asking its cooperation and
assistance.
