PURCHASE OF CHUTES AND PENS FOR STANLEY PARK:
Tv,.
Jack Miller appeared requesting permission to proceed immediately with
the purchase of chutes and pens for Stanley Park which are budgeted for
1980. He explained that if delivery occurs in December 1979, the price
will be $1400 to $2100 less than if delivered in 1980. Actual payment
would not take place until 1980. The Committee recommends approval.
DRIFTWOOD AVENUE:
Public Works Director Widmer discussed the possibility of vacating a
portion of Driftwood Avenue and explained that recent development on
some of the lots in Country Club Manor has precluded that alternative.
The Committee then discussed paving the steep portion of Driftwood
Avenue and felt that it should remain as is for safety reasons.
COLORADO STATE EMPLOYMENT OFFICE IN ESTES PARK:
A proposal was received from the Colorado State Employment Office that
it would retain the branch office in Estes Park if another party would
finance the office rent aias follows:
Rent $ 1,320
Salary (z) $ 878A8-
$ 9,320
After considerable discussion, the Committee recommended the Town not
participate at this time.
KMGH-TV REQUEST FOR TWO-WAY RADIO COMMUNICATION:
A request was received from KMGH-TV for permission to have two-way radio
communication on the Town's utility/public works radio frequency. In
return, the Town would receive assistance in emergency situations. The
Committee discussed that if this privilege was extended to KMGH-TV then
it would have to be extended to all news media and felt that the local
news media should have first priority. The Committee also questioned
whether use of the Town's radio frequency in this manner would create
problems in the Town's daily operation and wondered how other cities have
responded. The Committee felt it did not have enough information to make
a recommendation and was informed that this request would also be referred
to the Light & Power Committee.
BASE MAP PROGRAM:
Public Works Director Widmer informed the Committee that it will take
about three to four months to complete the topography maps which are
budgeted for 1980. If the Town would proceed now, the maps would be com-
pleted in early 1980. The Committee recommends proceeding immediately.

cess of moving.
