HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Works Committee 1981-05-21BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee May 21, 1981 Committee: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner Attending: All Also Attending: Mayor Tregent, Town Administrator Hill, Public Works Director Widmer VIRGINIA DRIVE SIDEWALK: Mr. and Mrs. Leach and Judy Ricker discussed with the Committee sidewalk proposals for the property located between the Village Theatre and the Courtyard property. Mr. Leach stated that he is considering developing the property and agreed to either construct a sidewalk as proposed in the Virginia Drive right-of-way by June 1982 or would present redevelop- ment plans which would include a sidewalk on his property. The Committee felt either proposal would be adequate and recommends the 5' sidewalk and curb be constructed by June 1, 1982. The Committee discussed Mr. Steiner's proposal to construct a sidewalk from the south property line to the north entrance of the Courtyard building. The Committee recommends a 5' sidewalk and curb be constructed from the south property line to the north property line by June 1, 1982. The Committee reviewed Mr. Brown's proposal for a 4' sidewalk along the east side of Virginia Drive from the south corner to the pedestrian bridge. The Committee recommends a 5' sidewalk and curb be constructed by June 1, 1982 which will connect to the existing sidewalk in front of the Marden-Steffens Realty building and extend around the south corner and up to the alley at the north end of the property. TRUCK BIDS AND SNOWPLOW MOUNTING: Six bids were received for a 3/4 ton 4-WD truck and the Committee recommends the lowest bid which meets the specifications, Rosen-Novak's bid of $9,059.87, be accepted. Public Works Director Widmer presented information regarding an 8' heavy duty snowplow which features a hinge in the middle and a spring loaded trap mechanism along the bottom portion. The Committee recom- mends purchasing and installing the plow on the new truck at a cost of $3,050. 1981 STREET IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM ADDITIONS: The Committee recommends adding portions of Twin Drive, Otis Lane, Pinewood Lane, and Dekker Circle to the 1981 street improvement pro- gram which will bring the total expenditure to $131,000. IDA MORRIS PROPERTY - RESOLUTION REGARDING SALE: The Committee recommends adoption of the Resolution finding that the Ida Morris property on Big Horn Drive and Spruce Drive is no longer needed by the Town for governmental purposes and that the property be offered for purchase with October 1st being the deadline for submitting purchase proposals. REPORTS: The 1981 American Public Works Association Conference will be held in Atlanta during September 12th - 17th. The Town submitted a formal commitment to the Upper Thompson Sanitation District regarding its participation in the Stanley Park sewer project. A formal commitment has not been received from the School District and the Upper Thompson Sanitation District will meet with the School Board at its next meeting.to further discuss the project. The new street sweeper has been received. A report from DMJM regarding storm windows for the Municipal Building should be received prior to the next Public Works Committee meeting. Larimer-Weld Regional COG forwarded to the Town the State Highway Department's proposed five year highway improvement plan. Although the plan does not provide for any projects in the Estes Park area, the Committee directed Public Works Director Widmer .to resubmit the highway requests submitted by Estes Park last year. Public Works Director Widmer reported that the new traffic signal being installed at the intersection of Riverside Drive, Virginia Drive and Elkhorn Avenue should be operating by next week.
