DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS /Public Works Committee: October 21, 1982 Committee: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner Attending: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner Also Attending: Public Works Director Widmer and Police Chief Ault SPRUCE DRIVE VACATE: Mr. Bill Van Horn and Mr. Jack Huffsmith appeared before the Committee to discuss the Spruce Drive vacate for Mr. Huffsmith's property located at the northwest corner of Elkhorn Avenue and Spruce Drive. Mr. Van Horn discussed at length the original survey of the street done in 1947 and explained that he felt there had been a clerical error at the time of the recording of this survey. He stated that Mr. Braxton Griffith, of Fulton and Griffith Surveyors, would sign an affidavit to the effect that the original intent of the survey was the vacate of the land along Spruce Drive. A lengthy discussion followed. Mr. Huffsmith then stated that he would be willing to give the Town a four foot strip of ground along Elkhorn Avenue in exchange for a vacate on Spruce Drive along the Chapman property. The Committee recommends accepting Mr. Huffsmith's offer. PARKING LOT #2 ELKHORN AVENUE ENTRANCE: Mr. Neil Rosener appeared before the Committee to express his concerns about the traffic flow at the Elkhorn Avenue entrance of parking lot #2. Mr. Rosener feels that the "Right Turn Only" and the "Do Not Enter" signs are not adequate to keep people from turning incorrectly from this parking lot. Mr. Rosener presented a drawing of a proposed solution to this problem - angling another planter at this exit. Mr. Rosener also offered to pay for the planter. Public Works Director Widmer suggested that if the Committee were considering this proposal, they should have the staff draw up the plan. The Committee recommends having the staff design an exit from this lot that will meet all the safety standards. BIDS - FALL RIVER DRIVE REPAIRS: Public Works Director Wid]ppr reported that the Public Works Department e. .?.7, 19P2 would be taking bids t-ame i at 10:00 a.m. for the repair of Fall River Drive, in Fall River Estates. The Committee recommends that Director Widmer open the bids and report back to Chairman Dannels. OLD RANGER DRIVE/FALL RIVER LANE BRIDGES - DESIGN PROPOSALS: Director Widmer reported that proposals would be coming in on Monday for the Old Ranger Drive and Fall River Lane bridges. He asked the Committee how they would like to evaluate these proposals. The Committee recommends having a Public Works Committee work session on Tuesday, November 2, at 3:00 p.m. in order to review the proposals. MUNICIPAL BUILDING ENERGY USAGE: Director Widmer reported an electric usage savings of approximately $4,500, or 14%, year-to-date for the municipal building. REPORTS: The State Highway Department let a bid for a CBD overlay of Elkhorn Avenue and Moraine Avenue from the main intersection to West Park Center and up to the bridge. Al, Director Widmer stated that bids would be received tomorr w on the sale of the Jones house. The bids will go to the Town Board on Tuesday, October 26th, for a decision.
