SPRUCE DRIVE VACATE:
Mr. Bill Van Horn and Mr. Jack Huffsmith appeared before the Committee
to discuss the Spruce Drive vacate for Mr. Huffsmith's property
located at the northwest corner of Elkhorn Avenue and Spruce Drive.
Mr. Van Horn discussed at length the original survey of the street
done in 1947 and explained that he felt there had been a clerical
error at the time of the recording of this survey. He stated that
Mr. Braxton Griffith, of Fulton and Griffith Surveyors, would sign
an affidavit to the effect that the original intent of the survey
was the vacate of the land along Spruce Drive. A lengthy discussion
followed. Mr. Huffsmith then stated that he would be willing to
give the Town a four foot strip of ground along Elkhorn Avenue in
exchange for a vacate on Spruce Drive along the Chapman property.
The Committee recommends accepting Mr. Huffsmith's offer.
PARKING LOT #2 ELKHORN AVENUE ENTRANCE:
Mr. Neil Rosener appeared before the Committee to express his
concerns about the traffic flow at the Elkhorn Avenue entrance of
parking lot #2. Mr. Rosener feels that the "Right Turn Only" and
the "Do Not Enter" signs are not adequate to keep people from turning
incorrectly from this parking lot. Mr. Rosener presented a drawing
of a proposed solution to this problem - angling another planter
at this exit. Mr. Rosener also offered to pay for the planter.
Public Works Director Widmer suggested that if the Committee were
considering this proposal, they should have the staff draw up the
plan. The Committee recommends having the staff design an exit
from this lot that will meet all the safety standards.
