1983 BUDGET:
Mr. Ted Schmidt, Director of the Public Library, presented the
Library Budget requests to the Committee for their review. Mr.
Schmidt then expressed concern about the upkeep of the Library
grounds and requested that funds ($1,500) be added to the Parks
Fund for landscaping around the Library building. He also stated
that the Friends of the Library Group would be willing to donate
$200 for the landscaping project. Director Widmer stated that he
was in agreement with this request and that this should be part
of the Parks budget. The Committee recommends adding to the Parks
Fund for this project and the upkeep of this landscaping.
Town Administrator Dale Hill presented the preliminary 1983 Public
Works budget to the Committee for their review.
DEBRIS REMOVAL EXPENSES:
Director Widmer reviewed the flood debris removal expenses with
the Committee. To date, approximately $315,000 has been spent on
debris removal contracts, which does not include the expense for
the Town crews.
STEINER SIDEWALK:
Town Administrator Dale Hill reported that Mr. Greig Steiner had
installed his sidewalk on Virginia Drive. The sidewalk does not
run the full length of Mr. Steiner's property and Administrator
Hill asked the Committee if they will accept what Mr. Steiner has
done. The Committee recommends accepting this sidewalk as is.
MOWING PRACTICES:
A letter dated September 5, 1982, from Jeanne Wylie Torosian regarding
the mowing practices of the Town was referred to this Committee.
Director Widmer explained that the Town spends approximately $1,000
per year for mowing. The reasons for mowing are: (1) to protect
the edge of the asphalt, and (2) for safety - to improve visibility
along the highway. Director Widmer explained that the $1,000
expenditure was protecting the larger expenditure of the asphalt.
The Committee does not wish to change the mowing practices of the
Town at this time.

course. Director Widmer explained to the Committee that there were
no drainage requirements at the time the Eagle View development

came before the Town and there was nothing we could do to help Mr.

Director Widmer reported that the he and Water Superintendent Vic
McCracken had decided to see if asphalt would work in Stanley Hills
where drainage has been a problem at the intersection of Freeland
Court and Steamer Drive. Director Widmer explained that asphalt
would be placed in Freeland Court rather than install the culvert.
The cost will be approximately $600 as opposed to the $3,000 for
installing the culvert.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
