HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Works Committee 1983-07-21BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee July 21, 1983 Committee: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner Attending: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Public Works Director Widmer BENCHES: Director Widmer reported the old style benches now in Bond Park are not available. The Committee recommends any decision on benches be deferred until the URA decides on side walk furniture. RIVERSIDE PARK: The Committee recommends a change order be issued on the Riverside Park contract adding: ITEM 1. Plant material and drip irrigation 2. Play Structure 3. Timber Benches (3) Total AMOUNT $999.00 $3,485.00 $750.00 $5,234.00 These items can be funded by not building the proposed play structure in parking lot ##1 - $4,500.00 and a portion of the money budgeted for Municipal Building sprinkler system $6,000.00. SNOW PLOW: The Committee recommends the Public Works Director be authorized to purchase a new snow plow unit at a cost of $28,000.00 (trade in old unit $6,000.00). Funding for this unit will be by eliminating the $30,000.00 purchase of a skid loader budgeted for 1983. BEAVER POINT BIKE & WALKWAY: Director Widmer has met with the State Highway Department and it was determined the best location for the Beaver Point Trail would be on the south side of the highway adjacent to the vehicle surface. The Committee recommends this project be included in the 1983 Street Improvement program this fall and that it be coordinated with the Water Department Main Project. MUNICIPAL BUILDING PAINTING: The Committee authorized Director Widmer to proceed with the bidding process as budgeted for the painting of the Municipal Building out- side trim. POLICE DEPARTMENT ROOF: An investigation of the roof problems on the Public Safety Building indicate an immediate need to repair the roof surface. The Committee recommends the Public Works Director proceed with bids on this project. BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee - July 21, 1983 - Page 2 CRAGS DRIVE BRIDGE: The contracts between the TOWN OF ESTES PARK and the COLORADO STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT have been reviewed by Director Widmer and the Town Attorney. The Committee recommends these agreements be approved. REPORTS: Peacock Park - boulders and dirt delivered and the Scouts are working on the park. Dessauer Trial - Director Widmer reported the trial ended yesterday and the court awarded Mrs. Dessauer $1,980.00 for out of pocket medical expenses. Pavement Management Systems have completed the Estes Park Project. Director Widmer reported it appears to give excellent guide lines on future maintenance and improvements.
