HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Works Committee 1983-04-13BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENYER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS '/ Public Works Committee April 13, 1983 Committee: Attending: Also Attending: Chairman Dannels, Trustees Houston and Wagner All Public Works Director Widmer, Disaster Recovery Manager Kistner WILDFLOWER MUSIC FESTIVAL - REQUEST FOR STAGE IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA: Mr. Bob Van Horn, representing the Wildflower Music Festival, appeared before the Committee to request permission to locate the mobile stage in the downtown area from May 6 through June 12, 1983. Mr. Van Horn stated that several musical groups would be using the stage during the 38-day period and he reauested that it be located in a central location. A lengthy discussion followed. The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the mobile stage be allowed in Parking Lot #2 backed up to the planters on East Riverside. CEMETERY - STAFF REPORT: Director Widmer gave a report on the operation and maintenance of a cemetery as well as a brief overview of the financial aspects associated with a municipally -owned cemetery. Director Widmer stated that the Town property located near Harmony Foundation is zoned T-Tourist and there are only three zones allowed for cemeteries. They are 0-Open, FO-Forestry, and FA -Farming. If the property next to the Harmony Foundation were used, it would need to be rezoned. A lengthy discussion followed on the pros and cons of municipally -owned and privately owned cemeteries. The Committee does not feel that a cemetery should be municipally owned. The Committee recommends the Town staff seek "Expressions of Interest" from the private sector. PEACOCK BUILDING - AUTHORIZE BIDS FOR REMOVAL: Director Widmer reported that the Tohe erwornowns tppart rtrof the tPeacockining Building West Elkhorn and roress. Director Widmer requested hma paarttoff thhe building is in pg permission to obtain bids for the removal of this buildinghefor the purchase is completed. The Committee recommends approval obtaining bids for the removal of the Peacock Building. The Town received $60,000 for property acq suggested the funds be allocated for planning, engineering and site development. In the Urban Renewal Plan, the traffic engineer is suggesting that this land be used for interim parking. BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.. REPORTS: Director Widmer gave a brief update on the progress of the private bridge replacement. Old Ranger Drive Bridge will have the deck poured on April 14, 1983, and it will be at least two weeks before it can be used. Crags Drive Bridge has been funded by the State and will be constructed in the fall or winter. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
