Acting Chairman Barker called the meeting of the Public Works
Committee to order at 2:02 P.M.
WATER CONSULTING SERVICES - PROPOSED WORK ORDERS.
The Committee reviewed proposed work orders for the following
three (3) projects: (1) the Western Intertie (Work Order #11)
and, (2) the Fall River Line, Phase I (Work Order #12), and (3)
the Marys Lake Water Plant Environmental Assessment (Work Order
#5).
The Western Intertie includes approximately 5,100' of 12" water
line to connect from U. S. 36 to Old Ranger Road. Total services
are $24,948 for the design (1989 Budget), and $19,889 (1990
Budget) for construction management, for a total not -to -exceed
project cost of $44,837. The Fall River waterline replacement
includes approximately 5,000' of 12" water line along Fall River
Road and design services are $20,630 (1989 Budget), construction
management is $15,720 (1990 Budget), for a total not -to -exceed
project cost of $36,350. Both projects are within budget. Staff
anticipates completion of construction by Memorial Day, 1990;
however, should the contractor experience delays, completion may
occur after the tourist season.
Project #3: The Bureau of Reclamation has advised the Town will
be required to file an environmental assessment. Addressing such
items as water and air quality, noise pollution, vegetation,
public informational meetings, etc., Rocky Mountain Consultants
has submitted a total project cost range of $9,790 - $12,762.
The Committee recommends approval of all three projects as
presented.
WATER PLANT EQUIPMENT — AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE.
The Committee reviewed a memorandum dated October 17, 1989
submitted by Director Widmer pertaining to budgeted water puri-
fication equipment for the Fall River and Glacier Creek Water
Treatment Plants. The equipment is necessary to continue the
automation of operations for the water plants. The Committee
recommends approval of the total expenditure of $12,746 for the
equipment as presented.
REPORTS.
The Committee reviewed the Citizen Service Response Report, and
monthly water reports for September.
Assistant Director Linnane briefed the Committee on various water
projects: the Corrosion Study and Fall River Plant Valve Report,
and preliminary Financial Plan have been received, following
staff's review, the information will be presented to the Commit-
tee for further action.

The Western and Northern Intertie Projects are well underway.
Staff is well pleased with both private contractors.
Additional items reviewed were the 1989 Loop Project, Pedestrian
Bridge Design, 1989 Street Improvement Program, and the Moccasin
Saddle Project. A decision will need to be made soon regarding
the paving of the Moccasin Saddle Project. The Committee was
also advised that a change order has been necessary for importing
fill material for this project.
Director Widmer reported on snowplowing preparations, advising
the Department has installed approximately 3,500' of snow fenc-
ing, training sessions have been conducted, and that equipment is
in good working order for the snow season.
Following completion of all agenda items, the Committee adjourned
at 2:46 P.M. to tour the Moccasin Saddle Project.
