Due to thepresence of shallow bedrock, the allowable soil bearing capacity for the foundation pier design can be increased allowing for a decreased pier diameter. Pier diameters noted on the plans required to be 16 inches can be reduced to 1.2 inches in diameter. I have perfonned the calculations for this configuration and find it to be acceptable. This letter is also to certify that on May 27, 2016, I or an employee under my direct supervision observed the rebar placed in the forms prior to pouring concrete. The observed steel placed in the forms meets or exceeds the configuration listed on the approved plans.
