HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Sanitation 1969-10-091I r RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public _ Sanitation Committee October 9, 1969 Committee: Chairman Erickson; Trustees Petrocine & Grove' Attending: Chairman Erickson; Trustee Grove Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill and Building Inspector Mowery Absent: Trustee Petrocine DUMP CONTRACT: Mr. Lee Parker and Mr. Robert Makinster appeared before the Committee for the purpose of discussing the proposed dump contract for the three year period beginning January 1, 1970, This agreement, approved at a previous Committee meeting, is recommended to the Board of Trustees for their final approval. DUMP PERMITS: The Committee discussed the need and advisability of changing the dump permit schedule for 1970. After considerable discussion, the Committee recommends the basic dump fee remain the same for 1970. The following special dump permits were discussed and the Town Admini- strator was instructed to contact the agencies involved and negotiate for equitable dump permit fees: U. S. Forest Service, Bureau of Reclamation and State Highway Department. REFUSE SHREDDER: Chairman Erickson reported to the Committee on his visit, along with several Councilmen and the Town Administrator, to the factory in Albuquerque, New Mexico that manufactures shredders. The advisability of this type of machine for Estes Park was discussed at length. The Committee will continue to study this method of refuse disposal, more particularly county participation and federal aid. Mr. Parker reported that the dump processed 20,000 yards of packed refuse last year. This refuse weighs about 350 pounds a yard. WILBUR RACY SIGN REQUEST: Mr. Wilbur L. Racy of Grand View Lodge, has submitted a request to replace the present Grand View Lodge sign on city property near the entrance to the dump. This request was referred to the Public Sani- tation Committee from the Board of Trustees. Due to Larimer County requirements that prohibit the placement of any directional sign on a property other than the owners, the Committee recommends the above request be denied. RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Page two Public Sanitation Committee October 9, 1969 LARIMER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: The Committee discussed the possibility of the Larimer County Health Department assuming the responsibility for issuing permits and and en- forcing rules and regulations in regard to individual sewage systems within the Town limits. The Committee recommends that the authority for this above responsibility be left to the Town of Estes Park for the present. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Dale G.
