The “merit”in lieu of the “longevity”system was discussed;both systems in one operation are not advantageous. There appears to be a “compression”problem in the current compensation schedule. There is a small wage gap between new and old employees. Currently, employees are at the following wage steps: Step 1 26 2 5 3 7 “4 3 ‘I 5 4 6 .1 ‘I 7 4 8 1 “9 3 10 2 The existing “Performance Appraisal”System is good;however, there is no criteria for exceptional and marginal performance standards. There is no existing maximum accumulated hours of sick leave for employees. Two options for conversion of sick leave are:1.At year’s end,a certain amount of sick leave could be converted into annual leave with a 2—1 or 3—1 ratio;2.Pay a certain percentage of any unused sick leave with a choice of carry—over or money. Additional information will be forthcoming. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. 9. Vickie O’Connor,Town Clerk
