The Administrative Committee devoted 3 hours to a detailed discussion
of the cost—of—living effect along with merit recommendations submitted
by the Department Supervisors.
The Committee recognized that the various departmental recommendations
are not being implemented as submitted.The Committee further wishes
to recognize the fact that all Town Departments are now and have been
operating in a very satisfactory manner.The Committee repeatedly re
marked as to their feelings that all departments are showing improve
ments in the general operation of the Town.
The Administrative Committee will provide Department Supervisors guide
lines prior to next year’s merit recommendations.These guide lines
will be established by the Administrative Committee during the coming
months.
The Administrative Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that
a general overall 6%cost—of—living/merit increase be granted to all
permanent employees effective January 1,1977.
Certain employees are recommended for promotions as itemized on the
attached list.The attached list establishes grade and step classi
fications for all employees.
The “longevity”statement submitted by the Town Administrator for in
clusion in the employees rules and regulations was tabled for further
study by the Committee (attached).

6.Longevity
At the discretion of the Board of Trustees employees that
have reached step 7 in their pay classification may be raised
one step for 10 years of service and one additional step for
each additional 5 years of service.
