Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Members present were polled as to recommendations of items from other
city ordinances they felt would be applicable to Estes Park.The fol
lowing suggestions were made:annual inspection of all signs as to safety,
electrical,and appearance.
The prohibiting and removal of all projecting signs on Eklhorn Avenue and
the allowing of flat-face signs on building only was suggested.
Petrocine called the Committee’s attention to the Scottsdale,Arizona
ordinance,and it was recommended and agreed to all present that all
signs on buildings will be flat-faced with no projection to exceed 18”
beyond the building line,that building signs will be limited to 25%of
the square footage of the total wall area,that no free standing roof
signs will be allowed.
It was also recommended and agreed to that a 5-year limitation clause for
all signs to complete the sign ordinance would be adopted.
It was agreed to limit sign lighting with a clause,”No intermittent,flashing,
blinking,scintilating,animated,or like illumination be permitted,”and
that also all exterior building lighting will be limited to 18”projection
from the building line.
The Committee entered into a long and detailed discussion on the feasi
bility of free standing signs with reaching no conclusion.Trustee
Tregent was asked to contact all filling station operators within the
Town and make recommendations to the Committee at the next meeting.The
Building Inspector was instructed to prepare recommendations for set
back,size,and qualifications to be used to regulate free-standing
signs.

to 120 square feet one face.
