HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Buildings and Parks Committee 1969-08-04nfl RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Buildings and Parks Committee August 4,1969 Committee:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Steele and Swanson Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustee Steele Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Superintendent McCracken and Superintendent Sweetland Absent:Trustee Swanson RIFLE RANGE As directed by Mayor Brodie on July 28,1969,the Committee discussed the proposal to place a rifle range building on a portion of Stanley Park now leased by the Town to the Recreation District.The Committee is in favor of this project,but due to the lease,as mentioned above, it is suggested that all requests and agreements be channeled through the Recreation District. SIDEWALK REPAIR As requested by the Street Committee,the Public Building and Parks Committee directed Superintendent McCracken to have the curb gutter and sidewalk around the fire plug,approximately twenty feet of sidewalk along Elkhorn Avenue in front of Bond Park and approximately twelve feet of sidewalk along the front of the Chamber of Commerce,replaced. The Committee will recommend repair and replacement of the sidewalk around Parking Lot #2 as soon as plans for this lot are finalized by the Beautification Committee. MOVING FIRE HOUSE As Fire Chief,Mr.McCracken reported the Fire Department would like to have the fire house moved from its present location to the area between Big Thompson Avenue and the Sanitation District garage.The Committee tabled this request for further consideration. HEATING PUBLIC BUILDINGS The following cost estimates were discussed by the Committee: ELECTRIC HEAT Town Hall Complex:Heating equipment $2,213.45 Installation 2,150.00 Insulation 969.98 Transformer 550.00 $5,883.43 Court House &Re search Center:Heating equipment $1,307.61 Installation 2,150.00 Transformer 550.00 $4,007.61 NATURAL GAS HEAT Court House &Re search Center:Heating Equipment-installed $799.00 Gas service 324.00 $1,123.00 cC RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Page two Public Buildings and Parks Committee August 4,1969 After reviewing the cost estimtes and considering the various needs the Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the Town proceed with plans and have electric heat installed in the Town Hall Complex.The Committee also recommends: 1.The Court House and Research Center buildings be converted to natural gas heat. 2.The installation of the gas service to be made by the Public Service Company. 3.The furnace in the Research Center replaced by a local licensed heating company and the furnace in the Court House converted. It is also recommended the west wall of the Town Hall be in sulated. There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
