Mr.Finlay,Mr.Molander,and Mr.Sweetland attended this meeting and
represented the Estes Park School Board. It was the opinion of the School
the option now owned by the Town of Estes Park on the football field will
expire on April 1 and will not be extended. If the Town wishes to pur
chase the football field, some other arrangements must be made before
April 1.The Committee and the School Board discussed the possibility of
a lease purchase agreement. The agreement discussed was $50,000.00 down
and $20,000.00 per year with interest at 4 percent. When and if a General
Improvement District can be formed, the lease purchase liability could be
assumed by the District. The Committee made no recommendation in regard
to the above matter.
The Committee discussed at length the request dated February 22,1965,
from the Blue Jean Philharmonic Orchestra Association.Due to the
attorney’s opinion that the Town of Estes Park and its officers do not
have the legal right to make donations, the Committee recommends to the
Board of Trustees that the Blue Jean organization obtain its funds directly
from the people of the community. It was also brought to the attention of
the Committee that the Town does not have the privilege of furnishing
light and power to any organization without charge.
The Public Buildings and Parks Committee received a request from the Board
of Directors of the Estes Park Library to increase the insurance on the
contents of the library from $7,500.00 to $45,000.00.The Committee
decided to include this request with their current examination of all
Town insurance policies.
