HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Buildings and Parks Committee 1964-09-17n r n RECORD CF PROCEEDINGS Public Buildings and Parks Committee September 17,1964 Committee:Chairman Leo Martin,Trustees Ronald Brodie and C.M.Hunter Attending:Chairman Leo Martin,Trustees Ronald Brodie and C.H.Hunter Also Attending:Building Inspector W.Ted Hackett and Town Clerk Dale Hill The committee was informed by Chairman Martin that a room approximately 24 feet by 32 feet was available for lease as a court room in the Research Center Building.Building Inspector Hackett estimated it will cost between $1400.00 and $2,000.00 to redecorate this room,install itions,and supply the necessary furniture and fixtures to make a presentable court room.Our present court room dimensions are 13½feet by 28 feet.The court room and utility office budgeted for the year 1964 was a building approximately 30 feet by 50 feet.This building built in Bond Park near the Magoffin Monument is estimated to cost approximately $25,000.00.This building built immediately north of the Chamber of Commerce Building is estimated to cost approximately $20,000.00.The Public Building and Parks Committee recommends the Board of Trustees consider leasing the above-mentioned room in the Research Center Building until such time as the permanent need for a Town-owned court room is more apparent. The Clerk was instructed to contact Larimer County Commissioner Warren Wolaver and invite him to a Public Building and Paks Committee meeting in the Town Hall on Thursday,September 24,at 2:00 p.m.This meeting will be for the purpose of learning the County’s plans for an assistant county court room in Estes Park and to negotiate the possible joint use of a Police Magistrate Court and County Court. The Public Building and Parks Committee discussed the possibility of encasing the Black Canyon Creek immediately east of Crowley’s Restaurant in a steel culvert and filling this property for the future use as a parking lot.The Committee also discussed the possibility of future excavation in the Buenna Vista Terrace Parking Lot,specifically Lot 4B,and using this fill on the above-mentioned Black Canyon Creek.The Committee requested Street Superintendent McCracken obtain estimates for the above projects which will also include surfacing of the two parking lots. Chairman Martin informed the Committee he checked with School Superintendent L.L.Patterson and was informed the football field option had not yet been exercised.After considerable discussion,the committee recommends that the Board of Trustees offer the School District $100,000.00 for the purchase of the football field.The Committee also recommends that the Board of Trustees be authorized to negotiate with the Schoo1 Board any variances in the above offer.
