and Robert M.Mobus

TOUR BUS PARKING:
The Committee discussed providing reserved parking for tour buses and
general consensus was that such parking should be close to the down
town area.Possible locations suggested were the Post Office parking
lot along the west side of the river,in front of the Library, next
to the bus depot, and in the Athletic Field parking lot.The Committee
directed Public Works Director Widmer to research parking area and
access requirements for at least four buses and to evaluate the suggested
locations for accommodating bus parking.
PEDESTRIAN AREAS:
Also discussed was various means of improving the pedestrian environment
in the downtown area.Since space is so limited on the sidewalks along
Elkliorn Avenue, the Committee felt that areas along the rivers should
be improved to accommodate benches and other pedestrian amenities.
Town owned land adjacent to Fall River along the Dark Horse parking lot
and Wiest Drive were suggested as possible areas for pedestrian improve
ments. The Committee determined such improvements to be midterm pro
jects which will need further study by the Committee and staff.
SIGNING:
Members of the Committee decided to observe signing in the downtown
area during this next month and to suggest improvements at the next
Committee meeting which is tentatively scheduled for December 17th at
3:00 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned.
