Building Inspector Ted Hackett reported that there were 278 nonconforming
signs two years ago at the time the Sign Code was amended. The following
signs are now nonconforming to the present municipal Sign Code:
Downtown Area --8 signs:
The Wheel Bacon Agency Bob’s Gateway Station
Conoco Station Grace’s Gift Shop Holiday House
Baird’s Gift Shop Enco Service Station
Big Thompson Avenue --9 signs:
Horseshoe Lodge Lazy T Motel Lake Estes Drive In
Hobby Horse Lodge Silver Saddle Motor Ldg.Lone Pine Development
Gartner Haus Standard Station Holiday Motel
After considerable discussion, the Committee recommends to the Board of
Trustees that the Sign Code be amended with the following addition:
“Where there are no sidewalks presently in existence, nonconforming signs
now in existence shall be permitted to remain until such time as sidewalks
are installed.”
The Committee also recommends to the Board of Trustees that the Building
Inspector notify all nonconforming sign owners that they are now in
violation of the Code and that immediate measures be taken to make their
signs conform.
The Committee discussed the Big Thompson Avenue sanitation problem and in
structed the Building Inspector to watch this problem and report any health
problems that might arise.Mr.Walt Caidwell,engineer for Phillips-Carter
Reister was contacted about the physical limitations of the proposed sewer
line for this area.Mr.Caldwell stated the line,as designed, was limited
in its capacity because of the 1,000 feet of sewer line formerly installed
that is to be used in the proposed extension. This 1,000 feet of eight inch
line has a limited capacity because the fall is not sufficient. The size
of the line is adequate to drain the subdivision.
The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that Section 11.17,Metal
Buildings,of the Municipal Code be repealed.
The Building Code Committee wishes to call to the attention of the Board of
Trustees that the Recreation District has indicated to the Town that the
Town has no jurisdiction over the Recreation District in regard to its
building codes.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
