HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Beautification Committee 1969-08-13QQ RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Beautification Committee August 13,1969 Committee:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Swanson and Tregent Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustee Tregent Also Attending:Superintendent McCracken,Superintendent Sweetland,Town Administrator Hill and James O’Shea. RIVER FRONT RECREATION DEVELOPMENT: Chairman Petrocine informed the Committee that he,Mayor Brodie and Town Administrator Hill had met with Mr.Don West of the State Fish,Game and Parks Department.This group made an “on-site’1 inspection tour of the possible locations for river front recreation.Mr.West informed the Town of Estes Park that the original approval of $2,000.00 was still in effect and that funds could be expected during the first half of 1970. Mr.West also informed the Town that a priority should be established as to location and that a simple plan be drawn together with a list of es timated costs. The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park the following: 1.The river front property on Parking Lot No.2 be es tablished as priority No.1. 2.The Town staff,with the advise of Mr.O’Shea,prepare a plan of the proposed development along with a list of estimated costs. TRAFFIC PATTERN FOR PARKING LOT NO.2: The Committee reviewed at length the suggestions for the traffic flow and parking plans for Parking Lot No.2.These suggestions have been obtained from Mr.James O’Shea,Mr.Traf ton Bean and the State Highway Department. The Committee agreed that one “in and out”curb cut near the center of the lot on Elkhorn Avenue would be the most logical and effective plan. The curb cut on East Riverside Drive should be located as far south as the final design will permit. The Committee tabled any definite recommendation on the above parking lot plan until they have time for further study. LARGE DECORATIVE ROCK: Chairman Petrocine tabled any action on placing large native rocks in the intersection areas because of the estimated cost of $35.00 per ton for transportation.Chairman Petrocine informed the Committee that Mr. Wm.0.Myers is working on a plan to transport the rock on a contribu tion basis.
