RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Advertising Committee January 31, 1968 Committee: Chairman Petrocine; Trustees Grove and Swanson Attending: Chairman Petrocine; Trustees Grove and Swanson Also Attending: Estes Park Chamber of Commerce -President, Robert Altick; Advertising Committee: Tom Justin and Roger Berquist; Manager: D. Ned Linegar and Town Clerk Dale G. Hill Chairman Petrocine reviewed the history of the advertising budget for the Town of Estes Park and the methods used in administering these funds. Chairman Petrocine also reviewed the reasons for the Mayor establishing the Advertising Committee, it's purposes, goals and the procedures it plans to take in accomplishing it's aims. The recommendations made at the Advertising Committee meeting of January 25, 1968, were explained to the Chamber of Commerce representatives. Considerable time was taken in determinging the items to be covered in an agreement between the Town of Estes Park and the Estes Park Chamber of Commerce, in which the Chamber of Commerce will administer the 1968 ad- vertising program for the Town of Estes Park. The following items are recommended to the Board of Trustees for inclusion in the proposed written agreement: 1;. $9,000.00 will be transferred to theEstes Park Chamber of Commerce in 1968. 2. The schedule of fund transfers will be: $1,500.00 on the 15th'of February, April, June, August, October and _:_December 1968. 3. The Chamber of Commerce will report to theTown Ad- vertising Committee bi-monthly beginning in April 1968. The balance of the details shall be studied and worked out by the Advertising Committee of the Town. There was a long discussion on the definition of the word "advertising". This definition will be determined and included in the agreement. The Chamber of Commerce shall submit it's recommendations as to the various items that should be included in the category of advertising. The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that in as much as possible, the Town of Estes Park and the Estes Park Chamber of Commerce should not duplicate their advertising expenditures. In this respect, the Town will channel all of it's advertising through the Chamber of Commerce. It was felt that the effect of this joint meeting enhanced the coop- erative spirit between the Chamber of Commerce and the Town Board.
