ADOPTION OF "OFFICIAL TOWN COLORS" AND "COLOR DAY" - DISCUSSION:
The Committee reviewed a letter submitted by Gary Mansfield who
requested the Town adopt the colors of red and white as "Official
Town Colors." Mr. Mansfield also requested an official "color
day" be celebrated on the Town's Anniversary date. Discussion
followed concerning necessity and support of such a request, with
the Committee recommending denial at this time.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 1987 ADVERTISING AGREEMENT - REVIEW:
The Committee reviewed the proposed 1987 Advertising Agreement
between the Chamber of Commerce and the Town which was prepared
by Town Attorney White. The Agreement contained an $800 contri-
bution to the Scottish Highland Festival which was recommended
by the Stanley Park Committee. Two letters of correspondence
submitted by James Durward/Scottish Highland Festival, and one
memorandum submitted by the Chamber Advertising Committee were
reviewed. The memorandum indicated specific dollar amounts
allocated to the Festival for 1987 which totalled $11,500.
Although the breakdown included advertising support for special
events in general, the largest percentage is allocated to
advertising the Scottish Highland Festival. Dr. Durward stated
he personally could not justify the $800 contribution from the
Advertising Committee and presented a check in the amount of
$816.93 in payment of the 1986 parking debt. Following
discussion, the Committee recommends:
1. Approval of the 1987 Chamber of Commerce Advertising
Agreement with the deletion of paragraph #8 addressing
the $800 contribution to the Scottish Highland Festival.
2. Declaring the 1986 parking debt owed by the Long's Peak
Scottish Highland Festival paid in full.
3. Representatives of the Festival submit their 1987
proposal to the Stanley Park Committee for review and
consideration.
As stated in the Stanley Park Committee minutes of April 10,
1987, the Festival will not be charged a rental fee for parking
1987. With all rental fees being paid in full, Festival
representatives will be allowed to attend to all parking of
vehicles, retaining all fees collected therein. Representatives
from the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee will be relieved of this
task for 1987.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
