HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Advertising and Public Relations Committee 1982-01-25BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Advertising and Public Relations Committee vJanuary 25, 1982 Committee: Chairperson Houston, Trustees Dannels and Meusel Attending: All Also Attending: Mayor Tregent, Town Administrator Hill 1982 ADVERTISING BUDGET REQUEST - AMENDED: Chamber of Commerce Advertising Chairman Peter Marsh, Dave Davis, Larry Stumpp and Susan McGuiness appeared before the Committee and spoke in favor of the amended advertising budget request in the amount of $78,541. A copy of this request is attached to and made a part of these proceedings. The Committee recommends the 1982 advertising budget be amended to appropriate $70,000 rather than the $40,000 now budgeted. This new amount is to include $6,500 for the Coors Classic Bicycle Race. The following changes in the annual advertising agreement are recom- mended by the Committee: 1. The principle sum shall be $63,500. (This amount is in addition to the Bicycle Classic appropriation of $6,500.) 2. The $63,500 shall be made available to the Chamber of Commerce as follows: a. $20,000 on the 15th day of January, 1982 b. $20,000 on the 15th day of February, 1982 c. $20,000 on the 15th day of March, 1982 d. $3,500 on the 15th day of April, 1982 3. The Chamber of Commerce„Chairman will approve all expenditures rather than the Chamber of Commerce President. TOWN'S ANNUAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEMBERSHIP: As requested, the Town Attorney has given his opinion that the. Town cannot legally purchase a membership in the Chamber of Commerce. The Committee recommends the Town not pay the $1,000 budgeted for a Chamber of Commerce membership this year. COORS CLASSIC BICYCLE RACE: The Committee recommends the Town participate in the 1982 Coors Classic Bicycle Race and contribute $6,500 as requested. TOM BINSTOCK - ESSAY CONTEST: The Board of Trustees referred Tom Binstock's request for funding assistance to the Advertising and Public Relations Committee on November 24, 1981. The Committee recommends this request be denied. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Dale G.
