Mr. Dalrymple informed the Committee that Marvin L. Steele of the Estes Park Lumber Company had recently hauled one junk car to the Denver grinder and had received $16.50 in payment of the car. This was a heavier than average car and it is expected the average would run about $12.00. It was reported Mr. Steele's biggest problem was the three and one-half hour delay to unload. It was felt he would continue this process on a limited basis. Mr. Dalrymple also reported Jim Watson has offered to haul four or five smashed cars for $60.00 a trip. The problem here would be getting the cars smashed locally. The following report from the Police Department on junk autos was submitted to the Committee: Junkers remaining Total calls Town ordered tows by Town 1 Park Oil 18 2 Bob Howell Chevron 15 5 Trail Ridge Ford 34 3 Estes Park Garage 0 0 Pixie 8 11 TOTAL 75 Trail Ridge Ford has a contract with Highway Auto Parts of Loveland to haul off junk for an occasional car of value. Trailer is furnished by Highway Auto Parts, loaded by Trail Ridge, and hauled to Loveland by Auto Parts. The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the Town Administrator correspond with the local wrecker dealers and advise them that the Town of Estes Park does not feel they have any financial responsibility in disposing of abandoned junk cars and also advise them that the Chief of Police will work with them and assist them in solving the abandoned car problem. It was also recommended the problem be eliminated as soon as possible and definitely no later than the coming tourist season. ORDINANCE AMENDING 14.32.030: The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that an ordinance amend- ing Section 14.32.030, relating to freestanding signs be adopted.
