Meeting held in the Municipal Building in said Town of Estes Park on the 23rd day of June 2009. Committee: Attending: Absent: Mayor Pinkham, Fire Chief Dorman, Finance Officer McFarland, EPVFD Members Birchfield and Landkamer, Town Clerk Williamson Mayor Pinkham, Fire Chief Dorman, Finance Officer McFarland, EPVFD Member Landkamer, Town Clerk Williamson Member Birchfield Chief Dorman called the meeting to order at 8:33 a.m. ACTUARIAL STUDY. Finance Officer McFarland reported the study has not been completed because Milliman requires the Town's CAFR for the actuarial study. A draft of the CAFR should be available within a week. He also stated the dive rescue team was added to the pension program in 2007. A meeting would be scheduled in July to review the study and discuss the potential for increasing the pension. Chief Dorman and Member Landkamer requested a letter from Milliman to confirm the date in which the dive team members were added to establish each member's effective date. They also questioned whether the dive team member's eligibility date would be retroactive. The Volunteer Fire Department bylaws would have to be amended to reflect the change in status for the dive team members from an auxiliary team to a technical team. RETIREMENT BENEFIT — APPROVAL. The Board reviewed the pension application submitted by Robert Hirning. Member Birchfield verified that Mr. Hirning has 20 years of service. The application was filed on March 3, 2009. Mr. Hirning turned 50 on July 18, 2008, and is eligible to receive pension benefits. It was moved and seconded (Landkamer/Pinkham) the Application be approved for Robert Hirning, and it passed unanimously. MISCELLANEOUS. Finance Officer McFarland stated the pension fund has outperformed the market during the last quarter and is up from $938,000 to just over $1 million. Finance Officer McFarland would confirm with Human Resources on whether any firefighters have passed away to ensure the one-time death benefit has been completed. SET DATE FOR THE NEXT MEETING. The next meeting will be set after Finance Officer McFarland receives the actuarial study from Milliman.
