FIREMEN'S PENSION - DEFERRED RETIREMENT PLAN:
The Board reviewed a letter dated April 8, 1986 submitted by
Secretary/Treasurer Dike. The Estes Park Fire Department has
recommended approval of a Deferred Firemen's Pension Plan subject
to the following conditions:
1. A minimum age requirement of 50 years.
2. A minimum of ten years active service with the Depart-
ment.
3. Any individual requesting an early retirement must have
completed all training hours for the last three years
prior to seeking the retirement.
4. Those firemen seeking an early retirement will submit
their petition to the Firemen's Pension Board for
consideration. The Board will then defer the petition
to the Fire Department Secretary for verification.
Currently, firemen are eligible to receive pensions when they
reach 50 years of age and have served the Department for twenty
years. The Board does have the option of granting a pension to
any volunteer fireman having ten years of active service. The
pension must be prorated based upon the number of actual years of
service. The fund must also be actuarily sound. Following
discussion, Member Dannels moved the Firemen's Pension Board
approve the Deferred Retirement Plan with the conditions as
previously stated, including a ruling that the Deferred Pension
Plan will not be "retro-active." Member Dike seconded the motion
and it passed unanimously.
APPLICATION FOR PENSION:
Robert H. Cheney submitted his application for pension June 28,
85. The application was certified by the Secretary of the Fire
Department. Member Dike moved the application for pension be
granted effective July 1, 1985. Member Watson seconded the
motion and it passed unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
