Attending:Chairman Steele;Trustees Tregent and Prosser Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Street Superintendent McCracken,Building Inspector Mowery,Town Engineer Van Horn,Assistant Town Engineer Bill Van Horn DARK HORSE PARKING LOT: a.Bridge -Town Engineer Van Horn submitted bids from Colorado Pre stressed and Flatiron Paving Company as follows: Colorado Pre-stressed -two bridges total cost $16,625.00.Does not include the cost of bridge abutments. Flatiron Paving Co.-two bridges complete with abutments total cost $31,329.00. Because of the high water the Committee recommends the Town pro ceed with the building of the bridge abutments immediately.A decision on the bridge material will be made at a later date. Town Engineer Van Horn will design the bridge abutments.The Town Administrator was instructed to contact Larimer County for the purpose of obtaining their bridge crew to construct the abut ments. b.Temporary oil surfacing will be provided by Larimer County. c.The Committee recommends the Light and Power Department furnish temporary flood lighting for this lot in 1970 and that permanent lighting be installed in 1971. ricken from d.Committee recommends the mvoposal oubmittcd by Lite Craft Neon, Cnutes by Board 111.ui LUU copy change on the existing “Dark Horse Plaza”sign F Trustees accepted.The total cost of this chance is $530.00. /27/70 PARKING SPACE WIDTH: The Street Superintendent was instructed to repaint the parking spaces behind the Town Hall with a width of 10 feet. RIVERFRONT AREA: The Committee suggested the Building Inspector include a storm drainage curb in this project.Should the bids be rejected or not received on this project the decision will be made to either do the work with the Town crew or hire individual contractors. EAST RIVERSIDE STORM DRAINAGE: Town Engineer Van Horn will proceed with plans to complete this project. VISTA LANE STORM DRAINGE: The Town Administrator,Street Superintendent and the Chairman of the Street Committee will inspect this area and make suggestions for possible storm drainage. ! RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Page two Public Works Committee April 24,1970 CROSS WALK: The Street Superintendent was authorized to paint a cross walk across South Saint Vram Avenue near the LaSiesta Motel. ELTON JOHNSON SIDEWALK: Building Inspector Mowery was authorized to proceed with the bidding of the Elton Johnson sidewalk should it not be completed by May 1,1970. WIEST DRIVE: The Street Superintendent suggested a curb and gutter be installed on the north side of Wiest Drive.The Committee tabled this project until the street oiling schedule is complete. MUNICIPAL COURT BUILDINGS: The Committee instructed the Building Inspector to obtain the measur ments on the Municipal Court Buildings (former NPS buildings)for the purpose of installing roofing material. DIRECTIONAL SIGNS: The Committee recommends a request from the Department of the Air Force, dated April 23,1970,requesting permission to place temporary direc tional signs at four locations from July 2nd to the 10th,be approved. 1970 STREET OILING PROGRAM: The 1970 street oiling program will be reviewed at the next meeting of the Committee.Street Superintendent McCracken will prepare a map showing the existing street surfaces so that a long range street improve ment plan may begin. STREET CUTS: The Committee recommends that all street cuts made after June 1st and prior to September 15th,be approved by the Street Superintendent. VIRGINIA DRIVE: The Committee authorized the Street Department to complete the street widening project on Virginia Drive. STANLEY PARK: The Street Department was authorized to repair the barn parking lot at Stanley Park. STREET NAMES: The Committee recomemds that interested property owners suggest street names for unnamed streets within the Town.The Building Inspector will coordinate this plan. UNFINISHED SIDEWALKS: The Committee discussed the problem of allowing sidewalks to be under construction for unusual lengths of time.No conclusion was reached as to a solution to this problem.
