Public Works Committee Meeting
August 27,1971

SUPPLEMENTAL STREET OILING PROGRAM:
The Public Works Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the
supplemental street oiling budget be increased by about $3,900.00 for the
purpose of oiling Twin Drive.
NEW HORSE BARN:
As requested by the Estes Park Horse Show and Rodeo Committee,the Public Works
Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the Town proceed with plans
and specifications for a new horse barn at Stanley Park.The barn will be
financed with $3,500.00 already budgeted by the Town and the balance,estimated
to be $1,500.00,supplied by the Estes Park Horse Show and Rodeo Committee.
The Town Engineer will prepare the plans and specifications for bidding.
MISCELLANEOUS IMPROVEMENTS -STANLEY PARK:
The Public Works Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the
following improvement projects be completed this fall at Stanley Park:
1.Arena hookup camper-trailers.Install an additional 20 water service
connections at an estimated cost of $300.00.
2.Four inch water line.Superintendent McCracken estimated the cost of
500 feet of four inch water line will be about $2,000.00.
The above projects will expend all of the budgeted funds for Stanley Park in
1971.The balance of the suggested project should be completed next spring.
These items are as follows:
3.One additional fire plug near the end of the planned four inch line.
The cost estimate for this is $500.00.
4.Arena sprinkler heads.Four sprinkler head hookups installed in the
four corners of the arena.Cost estimate for this is $1,500.00.
5.Septic tank improvements.Superintendent McCracken suggests that
eight (8)twenty foot holes be drilled and shot in the existing
leach field.Estimated cost $200.00.
NEW STREET NAME SIGNS:
Chairman Steele suggested some planning for a new style of street name sign
for all of Estes Park.This will be studied further.

NATURAL GAS FOR TOWN BUILDINGS:
The Committee recommends the Public Service Company install natural gas to the
following locations:
Town Garage $130.00
Light and Power Service Building 64.00
Fall River Water Plant 130.00
Big Thompson Water Plant 130.00
When the above installations are completed,the Fall River Power Plant will
be the only building using LP gas.The Committee recommends this gas service
be placed on public bid.
IMPROVEMENTS ON PARKING LOT NO.2:
The Committee tabled any further study of this parking lot.
BEAUTIFICATION:
The plans prepared by the Colorado State Highway Department architect for the
triangle in front of the American Legon were referred to the Beautification
Coimnittee (Mr.William Myers).
STREET EQUIPMENT -1972:
Superintendent McCracken submitted a request for the following pieces of
street equipment for next year:
1.Small tractor loader $5,000.00
2.Sand spreader 3,200.00
3.Dump truck 5,000.00
The Committee recommends the above requests be approved and that ownership
of an adequate backhoe-loader for the Town be considered.
SEVEN-ELEVEN STORE:
Town Engineer Van Horn reported the 7-11 store has not fulfilled their agreement
as to curb cuts and temporary signs.The Committee recommends this be referred
to the Town Attorney for legal advice.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
