HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Street Committee 1969-01-23RECORD OP PROCEEDINGS Street Committee January 23,1969 Committee:Chairman Swanson;Trustees Erickson and Tregent Attending:Chairman Swanson;Trustees Erickson and Tregent Also Attending:Superintendent McCracken,Building Inspector George L.Mowery and Town Administrator Hill The Committee discussed the storm drain problem on State #7 near the Baptist Church.Superintendent McCracken reported on a discusson of this problem with the State Department of Highways.The Committee re commended to the Board of Trustees that the Town and Baptist Church share the cost of material and the State Highway Department install the storm drain.The estimated cost of material is $1,200.00.Chairman Swanson will negoiate with the Baptist Church. The Committee discussed a proposed storm drain in Block 2 running from a point near the rear of the buildings to a “bubble up”drain in the curb line on the north side of Elkhorn Avenue.The State Highway De partment has approved this drain.The Committee recommended to the Board of Trustees that the property owners involved be permited to make this installation. The Committee gave the TOwn Department of Highways authorization to install about twenty (20)feet of eighteen (18)inch culvert in the drain ditch located south of the Estes Park Garage in Dunraven Street. The State Highway Department will furnish the culvert and the Town Street Department will make the installation. The Committee recommended to the Board of Trustees that the thirty (30) feet curb cut issued to the Este Park Garage on November 13,1967 be revoked.The November 13,1967 curb cut was issued by the Board of Trustees on the premise that the Estes Park Garage would furnish and install an adequate storm drain in Dunraven Street. The Committee recommended that the Street Superintendent be authorized to purchase a street sweeper as provided for in the 1969 street depart ment budget. The Street Superintendent was authorized to draw specifications for bids from the local dealers for the purchase of a one and one half (1½) ton dump truck and a half (½)ton pick up as provided for in the 1969 budget.Bids shall be submitted by 5:00 P.M.on February 10,1969. The Committee discussed at length the report of Trustee Erickson, Superintendent McCracken and Building Inspector Mowery on the curb and sidewalk inspection.The list of needed repairs is attached to and made a part of these proceedings.The Committee directed the Building In spector to send a letter to each effected property owner notifying them of the needed repair.Should some of the repairs not be completed by September of 1969,the Committee will recommend to the Board of Trustees that the necessary action be taken to assess the cost of these repairs to the property owners. CURBS AND SIDEWALKS-SUGGESTBD REPAIRS 1.Curb and part of sidewalk at Village Theatre. 2.Private drive -alley entrance between theatre and Coffee Bar. 3.Broken curb between Coffee Bar and Estes Park Liquor. 4.Broken curb at Herzog’s. 5.Approximately 40 ‘of sidewalk -repair or replace at Western Brands. 6.National Park Hotel -Lower sidewalk to conform to elevation of other sidewalks. 7.Repair or replace east section of sidewalk at Patsy’s Candies and approximately 10’of sidewalk at Hatch’s and Camera Shop. 8.Repair or replace curb and sidewalk as follows: 24’at Four Seasons 20’at Thunderbird Gift 20’at Pioneer Gift 9.Log Cabin Cafe sitting out on sidewalk 2’to 3’-approximately 100’from Cafe to Church to be lowered to conform to elevation of other sidewalks. 10.Roof and supports of building housing Dinner Bell Restaurant, Laundramat,etc.,over and on sidewalk -should be removed. 11.Dentists office on sidewalk -should be removed and sidewalk installed to river. 12.New sidewalk and curb at Glendenning property from river west to cliff. 13.10’of sidewalk repaired at Chevron Station. 14.6’of sidewalk (curb cut)repaired in street west of Buffeteria. 15.Replace or repair sidewalk and curb at Buffeteria. 16.Replace or repair sidewalk and curb from west side of Grace’s Gift Shop to west side of Indian Village. 17.Cut and replace sidewalk at corner of Elkhorn and Moraine at Edeiweiss Haus. 18.Repair or replace 16’of sidewalk at Village Coffee Shop. 19.Repair or replace 18’of sidewalk at Carmel Crisp. 20.Repair or replace curb at east side of Pottery Shop to west side of Plantation. 21.Lower sidewalk at Wheel to Karmel Korn to conform to elevation of other sidewalks. 22.Replace or repair curb from Karmel Korn to center of magazine shop. 23.Approximately 30’of sidewalk and curb -replace or repair from center of magazine shop to west side of hardware store. 24.Cut and replace approximately 2’of sidewalk inside of curb from center of Hardware to Riverside Drive. 25.Install 8’wide sidewalk at Band Box Cleaners to river. 26.New sidewalk and curb east side of Riverside Drive from public rest rooms to Elkhorn.
