HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Street Committee 1968-04-1800 CD RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Street Committee April 18,1968 Committee:Chairman Swanson,Trustees Tregent and Erickson Attending:Chairman Swanson,Trustee Tregent Also Attending:Superintendent McCracken,Engineer Van Horn Town Clerk Dale G.Hill Absent:Trustee Erickson The Committee discussed the condition of the sidewalks in front of the National Park Hotel properties on Elkhorn Avenue.The Committee reviewed the Municipal Code in regard to sidewalks and,in particular,Section 15.12 which reads as follows “All sidewalks,curbs and gutters shall be maintained with an even surface in good repair and in conformity with the established grade of the streets along which they are constructed.” The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the Flatiron Paving Company proceed with the 1968 oiling program accoding to their price quotation letter of April 4,1968 and the Street Department budget for capital improvements for 1968. The Committee recommends the Board of Trustees accept the Flatiron Pav ing Company price quotation of April 4,1968 in the amount of $4,200.00 for 4000 square feet of 1½”asphalt mat to be placed on parking lot number five.(Wiest) A letter from Mr.Ernest F.Altick dated April 12,1968 in regard to the beautification and use of a dedicated street right of way was dis cussed.The Committee recommends that no decision be made as to the use of this ground until such time as the Town Attorney has rendered his legal opinion allowing the proposed use.The above mentioned letter is attached to and made a part of these proceedings. Miss Goldie Bezolds complaint concerning storm water drainage on East Riverside was discussed.Chairman Swanson will write Miss Bezold a letter advising her of the plans to correct this situation. Mrs.J.J.Huddarts letter of April 5,1968 concerning the trees in the street right of way she recently dedicated to the Town of Estes Park, was discussed.The Committee Chairman will write Mrs.Huddart aiid ex iilain the Town has no plans at the present time calling for the removal of the trees. The Committee approved the use of Parking Lot number one(Athletic Field) for the antique automobile club on June 23,1968. Mayor Brodie,Chairman Swanson and Superintendent McCracken will attend the annual State Highway meeting in Greeley on May 2,1968. It was reported to the Committee that Mr.Ted Thompson has completed the State Highway Department required sign inventory and the inventory has been forwarded to the State Highway Department. The Committee authorized the street department trucks to pick up trash on the afternoon of May 10,1968 in cooperation with the annual clean up campaign.
